Dear Tiger Parents & Guardians,

To ensure our scholars are fully equipped for the rigorous Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) curriculum this upcoming school year, we have compiled a targeted skills and reading guide. Engaging with these activities and digital resources for just 20–30 minutes a day will combat summer learning loss, reinforce core foundations, and build a confident mindset for academic excellence. Let's work together to prepare our scholars for a phenomenal year ahead!

BAG & ORGANIZATION

• Bookbag/Backpack - Note: Must be CLEAR OR MESH ONLY.
• 3-ring binder
• Subject dividers
• Pencil pouch (to keep all the small items from getting lost)
• Personal calendar (great for tracking assignments and project due dates)

PAPER & NOTEBOOKS

• Wide ruled loose-leaf paper
• Spiral notebooks
• Graph paper
• Pocket folders (Get at least 6
  to stay organized)
• Index cards

WRITING & CORRECTING

• No. 2 Pencils
• Ballpoint pens (Black and/or blue)
• Highlighters
• Markers
• Erasers
• Pencil Sharpener (Personal/handheld)
• White-out

MATH & CRAFT TOOLS

• Calculator
• Ruler
• Protractor
• Scissors
• Glue Sticks
• 3-hole punch

Crawford W. Long Middle School separates its uniform shirt colors by grade level. Pair any of these shirts with Black and/or Khaki Bottoms. No leggings allowed.

To maximize instructional time and minimize distractions, cell phones and personal electronic devices are not permitted during the instructional day, in accordance with Atlanta Public Schools policy and Georgia law.

We understand many families want their child to carry a phone for before- and after-school communication. However, during school hours, our priority is providing every scholar with a safe, focused learning environment where instruction comes first. If you need to reach your child during the day, please contact our main office, and we will gladly assist. Likewise, if your child needs to contact you, we will ensure they have access to the office phone.

Crawford W. Long Middle School – Safety & Security Guidelines

For the safety and security of all students and staff, the following items are not permitted at school:

• Bonnets – Head coverings must allow staff to clearly see a student's face.

• Ski masks or face coverings – Face coverings that conceal a student's identity are prohibited, except for religious or medical purposes.

• Clothing or jewelry displaying:

  • Obscene language or images

  • Illegal depictions or logos

  • Violent messages

• Crocs or Croc-style shoes (in any mode) – These shoes are not permitted because they do not provide the safety and support needed for daily school activities.

The school asks for families' partnership in reinforcing these expectations to:
